A must attend talk will be the upcoming DEMLA meeting on Wednesday 7 September 2016 by Rachel Robinson, Director of Research and Support at Meningitis Now.

She will be talking on Meningitis and will give an overview of signs, symptoms and treatment followed by focus on the potential aftermath and help available.

Meningitis can affect anyone. It is the inflammation of the membranes that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord and can be caused by different organisms, including bacteria and viruses. Meningitis and septicaemia can strike quickly, killing some people within hours. Whatever the outcome, the impact of the disease can be life-changing – from grieving for a loved one, to coping with lifelong after-effects

Meningitis Now is the world’s first meningitis patient group and the only charity dedicated to fighting meningitis in the UK. The charity aims to achieve a future where no one in the UK loses their life to meningitis and everyone affected gets the support they need to rebuild their lives.

Rachel Robinson leads the Research and Support team at Meningitis Now, and is responsible for the awareness raising campaigns, the support services for people who have experience of meningitis, and the research programme.

The event is kindly being hosted at Michelmores Solicitors, Woodwater House, Pynes Hill, Exeter, Devon, EX2 5WR with buffet from 5.30pm. £30 for non-members, free for members. Full membership subscription £40.
